Overview
Air Comfort Systems is a Metro Vancouver HVAC and commercial refrigeration company founded in 2023 by Edmond Yeh and Larry Chen, two Red Seal certified mechanics with 22 years of combined trade experience. Their previous site was a generic WordPress template that wasn't generating leads. I rebuilt the whole thing on a modern custom stack: new brand direction, new information architecture with dedicated service and service area pages, and a migration plan designed to keep the organic rankings they already had.
The Challenge
HVAC is a credibility-first purchase. Someone letting a technician into their home to replace a furnace or install a heat pump is evaluating trust signals before they evaluate price. ACS had real credentials to surface (Red Seal qualification, BCIT apprenticeship, three TECA certificates, in-house ductwork fabrication) but the old WordPress template treated all of it like an afterthought. The second constraint was SEO. ACS already had organic rankings on the old pages, so the rebuild had to migrate those URLs cleanly rather than reset them to zero.
Our Approach
The design is clean and professional, built around Ed and Larry's actual brand: navy, white, and the cyan from their existing logo. The site splits into two content layers that compound on each other: service pages (furnace repair, AC install, heat pumps, commercial HVAC, commercial refrigeration, emergency response) and service area pages for nine Metro Vancouver cities, each with unique local copy. The whole thing sits on a single HVACBusiness schema with a 50km geo radius covering the full service area. Every old WordPress URL is 301'd to its closest new page, so Google carries the existing rankings into the rebuild rather than starting from zero. The about page leads with real credentials (Red Seal, BCIT apprenticeship, three TECA certifications) followed by verified Google reviews. Phone-first CTAs (call or free quote via Jobber) are above the fold on every page. Mobile is built around click-to-call.
The Result
A site that finally reflects who Ed and Larry actually are. Their credentials, brand experience, and the depth of their service categories are surface-level visible instead of buried. The migration preserved the rankings that were already there while the new service and service area architecture opened up real estate that a generic WordPress template never could reach.
THE TRANSFORMATION
Before
After
From Generic to High-Converting
The original ACS site was a WordPress template with the basics: a name, a phone number, a list of services. Nothing that set them apart from any other HVAC company in the city. No credentials on display, no brand personality, no content depth for local search. The rebuild moves everything onto a modern custom stack and starts from who Ed and Larry actually are: certified, experienced, honest. The architecture expands into dedicated service pages plus nine service area pages, and the migration carries their existing Google rankings forward through a mapped 301 strategy so no equity is lost in the move.
TRUST SIGNALS
Credentials First, Then Reviews
When someone is letting a technician into their home, the question isn't just "can they do the job?" The about page answers it before they have to ask. Ed and Larry's Red Seal certification, BCIT apprenticeship, and three TECA credentials are displayed with full context: what each cert means and why it matters for the job. Below that, real Google reviews from real customers. Raymond, Kieu, Kat, Dai — names and quotes, not a star rating sitting alone on the page. The combination of formal credentials and genuine customer words does what a generic "trusted and reliable" tagline never could.

PHONE-FIRST MOBILE
Designed for the Decision Moment
Most HVAC research starts on a phone, whether someone is comparing heat pump quotes or trying to book a service call during their lunch break. The mobile hero puts service and location in the headline, a click-to-call button in the first fold, and a free quote option via Jobber for anything that can wait. The background is a real commercial building with real HVAC equipment, not a stock photo of a smiling technician. It signals the right thing before a word is read: these are people who know the trade. Page load under 1.5s on mobile, because nobody is waiting for a spinner.
TEAM STORY
Built on Honest Work
The about page opens with a headline that is actually theirs: "Built on honest work." Ed and Larry started ACS in 2023 after years of watching homeowners get quoted one thing and delivered another. That story is told plainly, in first-person language that matches how they actually talk. The branded van, the stats (22 combined years of trade experience, 5-star Google rating, Red Seal certified), and the team photo give the page weight without puffery. It reads like a company that doesn't need to oversell because the work does it for them, which is exactly what it is.
